motherhood and not only survive, but thrive. They work to achieve quality, respectful, and
equitable maternity care for all. By partnering with community-based organizations and
providing grants, they increase awareness and mobilize communities to take action.

The issue: Globally, more than 800 women die each day from complications of pregnancy and childbirth—approximately one woman every two minutes. EMC is working to change that.
The solution: Almost all maternal deaths are preventable. How? By ensuring that everyone has timely access to quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care.

Black, Brown and Indigenous mothers in the U.S. are two to four times more likely to die from pregnancy and childbirth than their white counterparts.
